ESSENCE: Empathic platform to personally monitor, Stimulate, enrich, and aSsist Elders aNd Children in their Environment
Essence 2020 is a large study conducted in collaboration with researchers from Italy, Spain, France, and Israel. In this study, a computerized system is being developed for the advancement of elderly people. Their participation is tested in effective actions in the technology to promote health for the elderly throughout the Corona period. The laboratory researchers take an active part the research.
A new study has been published in the journal Technology In Society!
It was aimed at determining the characteristics of older adults’ use of technology to promote health during the Corona period. Results of the study show differences in technology use between countries and also emphasize the importance of personal adjustment in order to promote adult technology use.
In addition, preliminary results of the study were presented at the international conference GSA – Gerontological Society of America, held in Indianapolis, USA.
Under the guidance of Dr. Sonia Meyer and Prof. Sara Rosenblum, and in collaboration with Prof. Simona Ferrante from Italy, The study was part of Michal’s Tsadok-Cohen doctoral thesis. This study examined older people’s perceptions of aging, while the results hilight the importance of self-management, activities in daily life, and individual differences.
